Launched as a pilot initiative, the E-Tutoring Program connected learners from Kibera Kids Library with volunteer tutor Hannah Lee from the United States through weekly virtual mathematics lessons conducted via Google Meet. The program sought to bridge educational gaps, expose learners to new teaching approaches, and build confidence in mathematics through consistent engagement and mentorship.

Over the course of four months, dozens of learners from different age groups and grade levels participated in the Saturday sessions. Through dedication and perseverance, they tackled a wide range of mathematical concepts while developing problem-solving skills, discipline, and confidence in their academic abilities. The program also demonstrated the power of technology in creating meaningful learning opportunities across continents.

The wrap-up event served as an opportunity to reflect on the journey and celebrate the remarkable commitment shown by the learners. During the event, participants shared their experiences and lessons learned, with many expressing appreciation for the knowledge gained, the encouragement received, and the excitement of interacting with an international tutor who is proceeding for a long holiday.

A key highlight of the event was the recognition of learners who demonstrated exceptional consistency throughout the program. These learners attended sessions faithfully every Saturday and embodied the spirit of commitment that the program seeks to nurture. Their dedication was acknowledged through special awards and educational gifts.

Outstanding academic performance was also celebrated. Learners who excelled in the end-of-program assessment, which evaluated concepts covered during the four-month period, were recognized for their hard work and determination. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to their peers and a reminder that consistent effort yields positive results.

Beyond academics, the event recognized the diverse talents of the learners. Special appreciation was extended to children who showcased unique skills such as drawing and creativity, reinforcing the belief that every child possesses strengths worth nurturing. By celebrating both academic and non-academic talents, the program promotes holistic development among learners.

To encourage continued learning, participants received educational gifts ranging from mathematical sets, exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, and erasers to backpack bags. These items were carefully selected to support learners in their educational journeys and motivate them to continue striving for excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

As Cohort 1 comes to a close, the Kibera Kids Library and Konnect extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tutor Hannah Lee for her generosity, dedication, and willingness to invest her time despite a demanding academic schedule. Appreciation also goes to the library facilitators, parents, supporters, and the learners themselves for making the pilot a success. The lessons learned from this first cohort will help strengthen future sessions as preparations begin for Cohort 2, with the shared goal of empowering even more young minds through quality education and meaningful mentorship.
