Kibera Takes the Stage as Sing for Africa Season 2 Auditions Begin
Kibera came alive with talent, energy and ambition as Sing for Africa Season 2 held its inaugural Nairobi pre-auditions at Green Pastures School grounds, bringing together 31 young female participants eager to showcase their musical talent.
The all-girls competition, brought to Africa by Hunan TV International, Xinhua News Agency and Mango TV, provides a powerful platform for young African women to have their voices heard while promoting cultural exchange between China and Africa.
The Nairobi auditions are supported by China Road and Bridge Corporation as Strategic Partner, China Mobile as Special Partner, and Baus Optical and Ahadi Wireless Corporation, under the brand name Konnect WiFi, as Dream Partners.
For Konnect, supporting Sing for Africa reflects our commitment to engaging and empowering the communities we serve. Beyond providing fast, affordable and reliable internet connectivity and clean, safe and healthy drinking water, we continue to explore opportunities that connect communities to platforms, experiences and opportunities that can transform lives.
The journey to the top is a rigorous one. Participants can audition live at designated venues or submit audition videos online. Public voting will then determine the Top 100, who will proceed to a professional studio stage where an expert judging panel will select the Top 21. The competition will then progress through the Top 10, Top 7 and Top 5 before the ultimate winner is crowned.
There is also a separate public vote that will determine the Top 3 Fan Favourites, creating additional opportunities for recognition and career development.
The ultimate winner will walk away with KES 1 million, a fully paid trip to China and a recording deal.
The Nairobi Auditions Continue
Kibera was only the beginning.
The next pre-audition takes place in Githurai 44 on Sunday, 6 September, followed by auditions at the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and Railway Station in Syokimau.
The Kibera auditions demonstrated once again that talent exists everywhere. From different musical genres and backgrounds, young women stepped forward with confidence, determination and a shared desire to be heard.
At Konnect, we believe communities should not only be connected to the internet, but also to opportunities that unlock potential.
Sing for Africa provides exactly that kind of platform — bringing together talent, opportunity and cultural exchange while giving Africa's young voices a chance to reach a much wider audience.
Today, Kibera raised its voice. And the journey has only just begun.
Konnect Beyond Limits.
